Hello! Granted, I haven’t been here regularly in years. However, there is something going on in my little corner of the world, which is consuming me. I have to vent about it and this is the only spot that none my coworker know about or can access.
Approximately four years ago, my employers did some major restructuring and all of the insurance collections and billing offices in all the different states, became one entity. I joined a team with members from Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana. We had, and still have team meetings via Skype or conference calls.
I became acquainted with a woman who lives in Arkansas, and while we never met in person, we hit it off and I really enjoyed talking to and working with her. Over the course of our working relationship, I found out she had a set of twins, a boy and a girl, who were born on my son’s birthday, and another daughter who is eleven months older than the twins. I always made a point of asking about them, and she would send me emails with pictures, funny things they did or said - regular Mom stuff.
Last week, my supervisor called me into his office and asked me to close the door. He began by apologizing for dumping on me, but what he had just found out was so horrifying, if he didn’t share it with someone, he might actually lose his mind. The police had just arrested this woman and her husband. The prosecuting attorney had charged them with capital murder, capital rape, and first-degree battery, because they killed their six-year-old son, one of the twins. DFS had taken custody of the two surviving daughters, and they were in an undisclosed location.
At first, we couldn’t believe it. We came up with any number of scenarios that a third party was involved – our co-worker had let this happen on her watch, but she didn’t actually do it.
Then, the court released the probable cause statement and one of the television news sites in her hometown published it. It was sickening and terrifying. The documents included statements made by the couple during their interrogations, along with observations by the police conducting the interrogations.
Tonight, I read another statement by the DFS that stated the couple was reported twice before, once in 2013 and again in 2014. No details were included, nothing about actual home visits, just that both cases were closed as unsubstantiated.
Then, it went on to say that in 2004, the couple had their children permanently removed and placed in foster care. Completely different kids! The state took them away, so these animals started all over!
DFS was notified about a potentially dangerous situation, not once but twice, and no one bothered to find out if there was a history . . . and now an innocent little boy is dead.
My mind is reeling. Monsters are real. They have impenetrable disguises that fool everyone.
